The Overseas Old Boys: A Legacy of Rugby Passion and Camaraderie

The Overseas Old Boys Rugby Football Club (OSOB) has a proud history rooted in the iconic New Year's Day Youth Rugby Tournament, a staple of Hong Kong's rugby scene since 1967. Under the guidance of coach Tony Panell and manager Rob Wright, OSOB made its debut in the HKFC Tens competition in 2003 and has participated in every tournament since, except during the Covid hiatus.

Our Team

Behind every successful rugby team is a dedicated group of individuals who contribute their talents and passion. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors, who provide the resources we need to achieve our goals.  Our dedicated coaches, team manager, and waterboy play a vital role in ensuring our players are prepared, motivated, and well-looked after. This collective effort, from the field to the sidelines, is what makes OSOB truly special.

Our Mission

Embracing the Spirit of the Game, Connecting Alumni, and Supporting the Future of Rugby

The Overseas Old Boys Rugby Football Club (OSOB) is driven by a shared passion for the game of rugby and a commitment to building a strong and inclusive community. We strive to:

Promote the spirit of rugby

Upholding the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and camaraderie, both on and off the pitch.

Connect alumni across generations

Providing a platform for former players to share stories, reminisce about shared experiences, and foster lifelong friendships.

Contribute to the growth of rugby

Promoting the sport and its values within the community, fostering a love for the game among all ages.

A Team Built on Passion and Community

On the conception of OSOB, our team was composed entirely of players born and raised in Hong Kong and returning university students. Over the years, we have expanded our recruitment efforts and welcomed players from all corners of the globe. Despite this growth, we remain committed to featuring at least five local Hong Kong players in each tournament.

A number of Old boys have represented HK at both 7s and 15s level with stalwarts such as Mark Wright, Jaimie Hood abd Max Woodward to name but a few. The squad is driven by a spirit of hard work and dedication on the pitch, while also prioritizing a fun and inclusive environment for everyone. Our ultimate goal is to share our passion for rugby and OSOB's unique spirit with the world

Our Values

Camaraderie

We believe in fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose among our members, forging lasting friendships that extend beyond the rugby field.

Sportsmanship

We embrace the spirit of fair play, respect for our opponents, and a commitment to playing the game with integrity and honor.

Respect

We value diversity and celebrate the unique contributions of each member, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Kowloon 10s

The OSOB Kowloon Tens team is primarily composed of players born, raised, and schooled in Hong Kong rugby.  We're also pleased to welcome a couple of guest players from the British Virgin Islands and Cook Islands currently working here.
